The popular play Nobody’s Talking To Me is coming to the Castlecourt Hotel, Westport, on Saturday, May 13, and Sunday, May 14. The play is written and produced by Midwest Radio's Tommy Marren and has enjoyed hugely successful performances in various venues around the country.

Croagh Patrick to turn pink in charity challenge

The Croagh Patrick Pink Link Challenge will take place on Saturday, April 8. The main aim of this event is to form a human link from the bottom to the top of Croagh Patrick to raise awareness of cancer but also to symbolize solidarity for all the people and families affected by a cancer diagnosis. The chain will take approximately 3,000-4,000 people to be successful and anyone can take part and wear something pink to show support. The challenge is based on four different levels which makes it suitable for people of all fitness levels to take part.

The Longest Day is a challenge like no other

The Longest Day Challenge will take place on June 18, starting and finishing at Breaffy House Hotel by a group fundraising for the Irish Cancer Society. This is a non-competitive challenge event where a local group has taken on the challenge to cycle to and climb the three mountains of Mayo – Mweelrea 815M, Nephin 805M and Croagh Patrick 765M. The cycle distance is approximately 150kms between the three peaks and they hope to finish this in just under 14 hours. The group intend to start their Longest Day Challenge at 5.30am and return to Breaffy House Hotel, before the Mayo and Galway Connacht Championship match finishes that evening.

Mayo Cancer Support Association Ltd, operating at Rock Rose House Castlebar and The Family Resource Centre in Ballina, is a free confidential support service for people affected by cancer. In order to operate the smooth running of this service a committee of 20 to 25 volunteers, plus administration and professional staff are involved.
